Signature Select's Seriously Squirrel Spotlight! (Thank you, everyone! ^_^)

...Okay, I think the character on the box is actually supposed to be a chipmunk, but I just can't pass up such awesome alliteration, you know? ;D

But yes, just in case that super-long title didn't actually convey what we're looking at today, this week Brianne and I are reviewing a very unique cereal from Safeway's own Signature Select, as well as... (drumroll, please!) Cookies & Creme Krispies! Thanks to all of you, we managed to track down a box for ourselves, and this week we're finally taking a look at this long-anticipated cereal! Our thanks goes out to everyone who let us know about the best places to buy it online; this was truly a community effort, and we can't thank you enough ^_^

I definitely have a lot to say about these two cereals, so let's dive right in :)

Snicker Doodles Cereal

Episode link:

As many of you know, one of my favorite animals is the Sloth. What can I say, we have a lot in common: We both have hairy faces, we both prefer to take life one step at a time, and we both enjoy sleeping a bit too much XD

But here's a little known fact for you: One of my other favorite animals is actually none other than the squirrel! And that's been a constant since I was young, even to the point of creating an entire original universe around a superhero squirrel! I filled multiple blank books with drawings of these characters, and even turned the first book into a proper story about said squirrel and his friends fighting the forces of evil; I basically owe my modern creative mind to a noisy rodent that hoards nuts in trees! ^_^

It's my hope that someday, I'll be able to share this universe with you... but that's a story for another day ;)

Anyway, as you can imagine, the idea of a squirrel/chipmunk related cereal was very interesting to me. And on top of that, unlike our last review of a Signature Select cereal (Berry Crackles), this one didn't seem to have any "brand-name" counterpart. The closest pre-existing cereal I could think of was Cookie Crunch, and that never had a Snicker Doodle variety. Going off of first impressions alone, this seemed like a promising newcomer to the cereal scene!

Either way, though, I'm just glad to see squirrels getting the spotlight these days. Even with how many squirrel mascots there are out there, it seems like they never get the respect they deserve compared to their peers, and frankly, that's just not fair.

Someday, squirrels, someday...

Cookies & Creme Krispies

Episode link:

Time for the main event: The cereal you all helped us find! Cookies & Creme Krispies! ...And yes, I don't blame you if you're getting a serious sense of deja vu right now.

Fact is, this is actually our third review on a cookies & creme flavored rice krispies product! The first being Cookies & Creme Rice Krispie Poppers, and then the actual full-sized cookies & creme rice krispie treats! And believe it or not, even though the base is relatively the same, each of these products has received pretty different overall scores from us! The difference, of course, being that in the case of those first two, we could actually find them XD

Seriously, thank you all again for your help. Tracking these down on our own was a pain ^_^;

So, now that we've finally got this elusive cereal in our bowls, how will it compare to its square, icing-covered predecessors? Can a flavor this iconic really be recreated in such small pieces of cereal? Today, we finally find out!

Alright, so before I go, I'm going to give all of you a little spoiler: The next batch of cereals we've got lined up? Yeah, they're pretty darn crazy. We've got more non-cereal brand making the jump into the world of balanced - or not so balanced - breakfasts; we've got all new takes on some cereal classics; even a new series tie-in! Those are always... fun ^_^;

Well at the very least it's not Funko this time, so at least it won't be inedible XD

I hope you'll look forward to seeing these episodes post this September. Me, I'm hyped just to review them! :D I hope to see you then, and have an awesome Seriously Saturday :)
