May Backer Certificate Complete! ^_^
As the title says, this week I've become familiar enough with my new art program that I was able to finish the May Certificate for Seriously Cereal Backers! :D If you're a backer, then check your email later tonight (like within the fifteen minutes after this blog entry posts :P) to claim your copy of this black and white, fully original illustration, along with some backstory on my thought process behind this month's drawing! ^_^
Spoiler: It may or may not contain the debut of an all-new character ;D
Aside from that, though, I'll admit: This week's been kinda "meh" for me all in all. You know anyone in your life that can do literally nothing for a week and be like "yeah, I'm cool with this." Well, I'm not that person; if I can't meet my goals, whether intentionally or not, I feel terrible after the fact. So the fact that I've fallen behind in my current assignments is really bumming me out right now :(
But, as we all believe here at Blue Forge, it just takes one day to turn everything around. So today, I'm doing my best to get caught up, and turn this "blue day" into a "new day!" ^_^
And as luck would have it, one of my favorite parts of my job is helping all of you to have a wonderful weekend with Seriously Cereal! So let's go over what awesome episodes you'll all be able to see this week :D
This week we've got one somewhat sweet cereal, and one super sweet cereal. So, loosely going off the mindset of eating your greens before dessert, let's go over the less sweet choice first: Quaker Cinnamon Oatmeal Squares!
Now, when Faith and Jennifer first saw this particular cereal, they immediately saw a resemblance to Puffins cereal, which you may remember we reviewed just a little while back. Going off the box, though, I personally thought this cereal more resembled something like Frosted Mini Wheats, without the frosting... which was very odd, considering this was supposed to be an oat based cereal!
But nevertheless, those first impressions were just the beginning, as our opinions likewise deviated greatly upon trying the cereal proper! As for which way they differed, you'll have to watch the episode at https://youtu.be/WPYSuafXzkM to find out! :D
As for our second cereal, well... basically, I want you to imagine all the components you can put into a cereal to make it as sweet as possible: Chocolate, marshmallows, some convoluted pastry-inspired flavor.
Can you envision that? Cool; now, if you would, combine all three of those components into one cereal. And just like that, you've got Double Chocolate Brownie Crunch!
...Yeah, if that doesn't look like the world's most balanced breakfast, I don't know what does! :|
We went over this many times in the episode proper, but I feel it bears repeating here: Just how redundant is a name like "Double Chocolate Brownie Crunch?" So, first you've got chocolate, sure. Then add "double" to it, implying there's another chocolate involved, and then throw "brownie" into the mix-- that's three potential chocolates Malt O Meal is saying is in this cereal... on top of marshmallows! O_O
I mean, geez, I have a bit of a sweet tooth, sure, but how sugar-y can you get before you have to draw the line? Because in this case, I think we've crossed it long ago. But, to be fair, they say not to judge a book by its cover, and an overly redundant name doesn't necessarily reflect the flavor we're in store for here. So how does it taste? See for yourself at https://youtu.be/84RfcZJedzA :)
Alright, that's all I have to go over this week! But before I go, I wanted to call attention to our new layout for factoids.
In addition to our regular cereal facts, we've also included a question for the viewers; aka, for all of you! ^_^ Since Seriously Cereal is just as much about community as it is acceptance, we felt it was an obvious addition <3
Now, as some of you may have noticed, comments on Seriously Cereal videos are disabled. So, if you'd like to answer these questions, or have a story you'd like to share, then post a comment below the Seriously Cereal blog post that corresponds to the episode in question; in this case, that's this post! :D
This week's questions are "Do you pour the milk or the cereal first?" and "What's your favorite warm cereal?" Leave a comment below, and I'll respond within 24 hours ^_^
As always, thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoy this Seriously Saturday :)
